Introducing Wand: The Next Chapter
Growing up, playing a new game was just the start. Never quite satisfied with the vanilla version, we always ended up modding to see what else was possible.
That hobby became WeMod. The goal was simple: make it easy for anyone to mod their single-player games, a Game Genie for the modern PC era. Over 40 million gamers have used WeMod across 3,500+ single-player games.
But as we grew, our community taught us we were doing more than helping people mod games. We listened to your different stories: a father who just wanted to keep up with his son's favorite game, a busy student who needed help to see the end of an RPG, a player with a disability who told us WeMod was the only reason they could play at all.
In short, you were looking for a way to make games fit into your lives. We weren't just making modding accessible. We were making games accessible.
From Mods to Magic
Accessibility in games is often misunderstood, and the definition is often too narrow. Everyone needs game help of some kind, whether it’s looking up an item location or playing on easy at first.
Accessibility isn’t about getting rid of the challenge; it’s about adding choice. The ability to decide what experience is meaningful to you. WeMod excelled at making games easier, harder, or changing mechanics to make them more fun. But to build a complete game accessibility tool, we were missing one crucial element: game guidance.
To truly make games accessible, we had to fix game guidance. You shouldn’t need to leave your game to search ad-riddled wikis and dodge spoilers just to complete a quest. We want to recreate the comforting joy of a glossy strategy guide filled with lore, art, and tips. An optional assistance layer for your game that doesn’t break immersion while it helps you get more out of your game.
We decided to build tools to address both sides of game accessibility: assistance and guidance. When we saw it all together, in one easy-to-use app, it felt like something new. Something that felt… magical.
