Alchemy and potions
There are 25 potions in Gothic 1 Remake. Only 10 of them are craftable at an alchemy lab. The rest -- including all Strength and Dexterity potions -- are loot or vendor finds. If alchemy is part of your build, know what you can actually brew and what you need to find.
Crafting requires the Alchemy skill (learned from an alchemy teacher) and access to an alchemy lab. Cor Kalom and Baal Cadar at the Swamp Camp have the deepest alchemy teaching path. Cronos at the Old Camp teaches it too, but the Swamp Camp is where alchemy-focused builds belong.
What to craft first

The three healing potions and three mana potions form the core of practical alchemy. Everything beyond that needs rarer ingredients.
Ingredients
Recipes use base materials (Water, Pure alcohol, Lab flask), common reagents (Salt, Mercury, Sulfur), herbs, and monster drops. The expensive potions need parts from Golems.

The Golem drops are the real bottleneck. Crystal shards and Ore-infused roots go into the permanent stat potions, so don't sell them. Ever.

15 of the 25 potions have no alchemy recipe. You find them as loot, buy them from traders, or earn them from quests.
All Strength potions (Essence 200g / Extract 400g / Elixir 1600g) — permanent STR, loot only
All Dexterity potions (Essence 200g / Extract 400g / Elixir 800g) — permanent DEX, loot only
Lower permanent potions (Essence of Life 300g, Extract of Life 600g, Essence of Spirit 300g, Extract of Spirit 600g) — permanent max HP or max mana, loot only
Potion of Quick Healing (15g) — instant heal, loot only
Potion of Velocity and Potion of Haste (100g each) — speed buff, loot only
Potion of Power (1200g) — permanent STR + DEX, loot only
Orc Medicine (99g) — permanent max HP + max mana, loot only
This matters for build planning. If you're counting on permanent Strength boosts from alchemy, you can't — those are found in the world, not brewed. The permanent potions you can craft are the Elixir of Life (HP) and Elixir of Spirit (mana), and both need Golem drops.
